Casslyn Welch and John McClusky: Captured

The modern day Bonnie and Clyde type escapade that two fugitives pulled off has the nation watching and waiting. Honestly, in this era, few had doubts about the two being captured, it was simply a matter of time. These two fugitives were running from the law but happen to get caught when the decided to take rest near a campsite in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest. Casslyn Welch and John McClusky were only 300 miles from the prison that McClusky escaped from.

The fugitive and his accomplice have been on the run for three weeks. They were dubbed the modern day “Bonnie and Clyde” but even that seems like a bit of an insult to Bonnie and Clyde. Unfortunately for these two, a ranger went to investigate an unattended campfire and that’s when he discovered the car hidden in the trees. Casslyn Welch and John McClusky had backed the car into a group of trees causing the ranger to suspect that someone was trying to hide.

Once the ranger started a conversation with McClusky, he noticed that he seemed agitated and upset. At one point Welch apparently reached for a weapon but realized that she was surrounded by an onslaught of armed officers. Believe it or not, the two were taken into custody and no shots were fired at all. That’s where the story of Casslyn Welch and John Mcclusky quits looking anything like a modern day Bonnie and Clyde.
