Melanie Oudin: Tennis Prodigy

At the sprite age of 18, tennis may have prodigy in the rough. She doesn’t really even appear to be in the rough for that matter with the kind of tennis she has played of late. After beating three ranked players last year at the Open, she was put out in the quarterfinals by this year’s number one ranked player. One certainty is that Melanie Oudin is making waves at the U.S. Open again this year.

In today’s match, she saved two break points at 3-all before she was able to get through. Now, she is ready move on and chances are she will see her nemesis Kim Clijsters sooner than later. The emotion of this lady on the courts is intense. Last year Melanie Oudin hit the U.S. Open with the word “believe” written on his sneakers.

She is definitely one of the more animated players and she showed up today wearing a purple dress. She added a pair of black and yellow fluorescent shoes with the word “courage” written on them. Now, the very players that this youngster watched with star-struck eyes are checking her out, purple dress and all. Melanie Oudin has to step up her game she has to go through yet another Ukranian player, Alona Bondarenko who made short work of Russian Vera Dushevina.
