For many, today, November 1st kicks off the holiday shopping each year. If you are one of those year-round shoppers, you will most likely appreciate the move that some retailers as well as credit card companies are offering. If you are a last minute shopper, this could benefit you even more. Regardless of when you choose to shop, if you use your any of the Discover Card brands such as Discover More, Open Road or Motiva cards, you now have an extra incentive to spend.
Indeed, shoppers using their card normally receive a 1% cash back incentive on their purchases. That has been up to 2% starting on November 15, 2010 and lasting until December 31, 2010. If you do not have a card, you will receive the 2% cash back incentive on purchases you make immediately. The officials working the Discover card promotion have limited this to $1,000 purchases but indicate that obviously the intent is to help the economy.
The amount that buyers see will amount to a maximum of $10 in extra rebates from what the card users normally receive. This may not be a big deal to some but for those who use their credit cards anyway, why not take advantage of the incentive. If you are a cash-only buyer, obviously you are saving more in the long run than those using credit cards and not paying off the balance. However, if you can discipline your spending habits, the folks promoting buying with a Discover Card have provided a decent benefit to users.
