Toy Story 3 and the importance of remembering Ernest

Think back on the original release of the Toy Story movie. Fond memories, no doubt. Remember Ernest, the voice of Slinky Dog? He (Ernest) died in the year 2000 from lung cancer. The Toy Story 3 release 2010 leaves us without Earnest’s Slinky Dog voice. Blake Clark steps in. Varney aka Slinky Dog aka Ernest was only 50 years old.
On June 18, Toy Story 3 releases in theaters. “Slink” will be performed by Blake Clark. You might remember Clark from Adam Sandler films, like Mr. Deeds, Waterboy, and Eight Crazy Nights. Tom Hanks (Woody) and Tim Allen (Buzz LightYear) are back, which lends to the familiarity of the original Toy Story release.

New voices include Michael Keaton (Ken), Jodi Benson (Barbie), and Ned Beatty (Lots-O’-Huggin’ Bear). The story line in version 3 is a legal age Andy Davis, age 18, fixing to head off to college. Of course, the “toys” are concerned about their future. Hang on to your hats, it’s going to be a WILD ride, as is typical of a Toy Story movie, and Toy Story 3 holds great promise.
