Tommy John Surgery: Expected Recovery For Adam Wainright

Adam Wainright had to undergo a very invasive surgery. This surgery usually takes a very long time to come back from completely. It is not as much of a death sentence to a career as it used to be however. The surgery that I am talking about is Tommy John Surgery.

Tommy John Surgery is named after a pitcher who was the first professional athlete to successfully undergo the surgery. Dr. Frank Jobe was the one who performed the surgery on this player back in 1974. He now serves as a Special Advisor to Los Angeles Dodgers chairman Frank McCourt. I am sure that Adam Wainright is glad that he is on the mend.

We are happy to hear that Wainright is expected to recover. The St. Louis Cardinals suffered the loss of one of their best pitchers to a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right arm just recently. While not everyone has success with the surgery there are many that do such as John Smoltz, Josh Johnson, Brain Wilson, Chris Carpenter and John Franco. Just relax while you are recovering from your Tommy John surgery Wainright.
