Tsunami And Earthquake Reek Havoc In Japan

A powerful earthquake of 8.9 on the Richter scale hit Japan March 11th, 2011. The earthquake is the biggest earthquake record in Japan’s history. This devastating earthquake then caused a 13 foot tsunami which swept through causing panic and horror for the residents. Houses were aflame and people ran to the tops of the roofs for safety.

tsunami and earthquake hit japanAfter the tsunami and earthquake you could see tons of debris for miles inland. Factories were hit and their workers sought out refuge on the part of the building which had not fallen.

Not only was Japan affected by this horrible Earthquake however. There is a tsunami alert for New Zealand, the Philippines, Indonesia, Hawaii, Papua New Guinea and more.

In Hawaii alone the tourists and residents are running to the safest places possible as they brace for 6 foot tsunami waves that are supposed to arrive around 3 am local time.

The airport in Honolulu remains open but reported several jets that were headed to the airport have turned around.
