Dukan Diet: Coming To America

If you have ever went to France you may have noticed that almost everyone is thin. If you wish that you had their secret then you are in luck. A popular French diet will soon be on bookstores in America. This diet is called the Dukan diet.

Dukan dietThe Dukan diet is what made the 69-year-old Pierre Dukan famous. His books have been on the top seller’s list in France last year and that is not likely to change. This diet of course gives you awesome promises such as instant weight loss and no hunger pain. The Dukan diet wouldn’t be the first to fall through on this promise though so does it really work?

Countless numbers of French people claim to have tried this diet and won with it. The cover even has a plate and two Eiffel Towers on it with the line “The Real Reason The French Stay Thin”. This Dr. however is known as the Dr. Atkins of France and many people are wondering if they haven’t seen and tried this before. When questioned about this he said that he was built on the shoulders of Weight Watchers and Atkins but they had some problems that needed to be fixed. Maybe this will be the big breakthrough some people have been looking for.

The diet’s high-protein, low-fat approach is organized into four phases, the first of which encourages dieters to eat as much as they want of non-fatty, protein-rich foods, including oat bran — a key component — washed down with oceans of water. The second stage introduces vegetables, but no fruit; the third brings with it two slices of bread, a serving of cheese and fruit and two servings of carbohydrates a day, with two weekly “celebration” meals with wine and dessert (the diet is French, after all); and the final stage — six days a week of “anything goes” and one day of reversion to strict stage one.
