The Cherry Blossom Festival 2011 started Saturday morning in our nation’s capital. This year brings a whole different meaning to the events since the celebration is for the coming of spring as well as the Japanese culture. The event is going to be used to reflect on the tragedy that occurred in Japan after the earthquake, tsunami and the nuclear meltdown.
Life will seem to be back to normal at the Cherry Blossom Festival 2011. Even if the parents are having a hard time they will put on happy faces for their children. In the midst of all of the memories the festival opened with family fun at the Nation Building Museum in D.C. which started at 10 a.m. The official opening ceremony takes place at 4 p.m.
If you want to help out with the Japanese help funds the Red Cross has partnered with the organizers of the festival to raise the funds. There was a candlelight vigil to remember the lost on Thursday. For those of you that can not make it to D.C. for the Cherry Blossom festival 2011 you can also give to the red cross online.
