No one even noticed that Mike Quade was on the No. 903 Red Line to go to work on Friday morning. He was on the train just like any other Chicago commuter. He got off at the Addison Street stop and simply walked over to Wrigley field and no one recognized him as the Chicago Cubs 51st manager.
“I can’t help but try to get the flavor of the ballpark and the neighborhood, especially on a day like this,” Quade said. “This day will come and go and I’ll still ride trains and do what I do.” Quade is going to end up living close enough to Wrigley so that he will be able to walk to work. The Chicago Cubs manager is staying down town right now.
Even though Quade tried to play down his excitement of his first Opening Day as a Major League manager he did admit that he was pumped. Do you think Wrigley Field’s new public address announcer will get his name right? Chicago cubs fans are pretty forgiving though so I don’t think they’d mind too much if they made a little name mistake.
