Chicago White Sox: Big Day For Rookie Brent Morel

Opening day is always a great day but the first opening day for each player is extra exciting and one that they never forget. That means today is an extra special day for Brent Morel. He is experiencing his first Opening Day and starting at third base for the Chicago White Sox against the Cleveland Indians.

Going into camp battling (for a starting spot), I kind of treated every game like Opening Day where everything mattered. So hopefully that will carry over. And last year definitely helped, getting to start at the end of the year. I’m just trying not to do anything different. (Thursday) night, I did the usual stuff, had a nice dinner, watched a movie, nothing crazy.”

This 23-year-old Chicago White Sox rookie is hitting .286 this spring but something more important is the fact that he has committed no errors in the field. Morel appeared in 21 games during 2010 and even hit three home runs. This is going to be a great season for the Chicago White Sox.
