One thing is for sure, you don’t have to wonder how Morrissey feels about the Royal family. He once sang a song with lyrics “the Queen is dead.” Many wonder if he would really care if it were true. He has done nothing but be outspoken against the royals since he rose to stardom.
Morrissey is a legendary rocker, first of the seminal 80′s band The Smith and now enjoys a prominent solo career. He often takes on contemporary English society. Just a day before the wedding he was speaking out again the royal wedding coverage and the royal family in general.
Quote from Morrissey: “Why would I watch the wedding? I couldn’t take any of that seriously,” he said in an interview with BBC Radio 4. “I don’t think the so-called Royal family speak for England now, and I don’t think England needs them.”I do seriously believe that they are benefit scroungers, nothing else,” he continued. “I don’t believe they serve any purpose whatsoever. I’m not an anarchist, but I believe that people don’t want the Royal family — the so-called Royal family. They’re not royal to me, but they’re royal to the media for some reason.”
What are your thoughts on the royal family? Do you defend them or are you offended by them?
