After years of hunting down Osama Bin Laden, Navy seals have finally taken him down! The world’s most wanted terrorist was killed Sunday afternoon by a CIA-lead Navy Seals squadron. This squadron was made up of just a few dozen men. They stormed Osama Bin Laden’s compound and killed him.
The Navy Seals that did this job were a group that were stationed at Naval Air Station Oceana in Virginia Beach. This team is part of the counter terrorism group that is so specialized that there is no way to apply to it. These operatives are recruited from SEAL teams that are already existing. You could say they are the best of the best when it comes to Navy Seals.
This team was formed back in 1980 as a response to the failed American hostages rescue attempt in Iran. These Navy Seals exist outside military protocol and they engage in operations that are extremely high level classification. Many times they are outside the boundaries of international law. In the beginning they were called Team 6 but the name of changed to Naval Special Warfare Development Group in 1987 but they are still often known as Team 6.
