Indy 500: 100 Years of Indy

Today at 12:00 pm EST the 100th anniversary of the Indy 500 will get underway. Who will be the winner of the checkered flag in the field of 33 drivers remains to be seen. The 500 mile or 200 lap race will take around 3 hours or so to complete. The pole sitter for today’s Indy 500 race is Alex Tagliani of Canada.

The weather today in Speedway, Indiana is sunny with a few clouds and around 80F which will make for good racing conditions. There is no rain expected for today’s running of the Indy 500.

Contenders for today’s race include Dario Franchitti, who was last years winner, Alex Tagliani, and Scott Dixon. Female driver Danica Patrick just made the cut to make the top 33.
