US Open Leaderboard: Rory McIlroy In The Lead

With the fourth and final round of the US Open kicking off this morning young Rory McIlroy finds himself in the lead. This is not the first time this year he has gone in to the final round of a major tournament on top. If you remember not that long ago at the Masters his game fell apart in the final round and he ended the tournament in a tie for 15th, after shooting an 80 on the final day of play. The US Open leaderboard has McIlroy on top at -14 with an 8 shot lead over second place Y.E. Yang.

Other notable golfers in the top 5 are Lee Westwood, Jason Day, and Robert Garrigus. These golfers would need McIlroy to play very poorly today if they have any chance of taking over top spot.If you can’t tune in on your T.V coverage of the US Open is available online. Also ESPN has an US Open leaderboard that gives you up to the minute updates.

The US Open is taking place from the Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland. Today’s weather report shows that there is a possibility of rain mainly in the afternoon, which could have and effect on some of the golfers. Last years winner Graeme McDowell is currently in a tie for 21st, an interesting US Open fact is McDowell and current leader McIlroy are both from Northern Ireland. Look for the US Open leaderboard top 10 golfers to start teeing off at 2:40 pm ET, with the current leader hitting the links at 3:20 pm ET.
