MLB Interleague Play: Chicago Cubs vs. Chicago White Sox

As the 2011 summer solstice starts today a heated rivalry between the Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox resumes at 8:10 PM ET. The Cubs ended up taking game one 6-3 despite the White Sox taking a 3-0 lead in the first inning. Carlos Zambrano returned to the same ball park on the south side of Chicago that sent him to anger management counseling almost a year ago after a mental meltdown. Zambrano however this time around pitched outstanding despite giving up 3 runs in the first inning.

Ozzie Guillen Ejection

This year the person with the anger management issues was Ozzie Guillen after a blown call by home plate umpire James Hoye. Guillen raced out of the dugout and kicked the Cubs catcher Geovany Soto’s mask. Guillen was 100% correct about the blown call however he said in the press conference after the game that umpire James Hoye was correct because he did not want to pay another $20,000 fine for saying the wrong thing which this time around is actually the correct thing, it was a blown call.

Tuesday night Mark Buehrle (6-5, 3.75 ERA) will take the mound for the Chicago White Sox and Matt Garza (3-6, 4.14) will be the hurler for the Chicago Cubs. However this is a very good chance that thunder storms could cause problems for this game to be completed or even take place. The home team Chicago White Sox are currently favored at -137 and the posted game total is just 8.5 runs as the wind will be blowing in from right field at 12.5 MPH. The game time temperature is expected to be 76 at U.S. Cellular Field Tuesday night but bring an umbrella if you plan on taking in the Cubs vs. White Sox MLB Inter-league action.
