Wimbledon 2011: Roger Federer Loses

Today at Wimbledon 2011 we saw the mens quarterfinal takes place. The winners of today’s matches will gain a birth in to the semifinals on Friday. Last years champion Rafael Nadal became one step closer to winning back to back titles with his win today. He will face Andy Murray on Friday.

The big news of the day at Wimbledon 2011 was Roger Federer losing to Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France. After winning the first 2 sets it looked as though Federer had the match in the bag. However the Frenchman Tsonga never gave up and won the final 3 sets 6-4,6-4,6-4 to win the match. After Tsonga won the 3rd set is seemed as though Federer’s game became deflated and he could not get it back.

The final quarterfinal match of the day saw Novak Djokovic defeat Bernard Tomic in 4 sets. He will play Tsonga in one of the two semifinals. Djokovic can not take this opponent lightly as he defeated Federer today and Nadal back at the Australian Open earlier in the year. Check back tomorrow for the latest Wimbledon 2011 results including the ladies semifinal results.
