Wimbledon 2011 Results: Petra Kvitova Wins Wimbledon Championship over Maria Sharapova

Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic has won Wimbledon 2011 at the All England Lawn Tennis Championships on Saturday. She played against Russia’s Maria Sharapova to win her first major title. A left-handed woman has not won this major title since 1990, the 21-year-old, Petra Kvitova won 6-3 6-4 at Wimbledon 2011.

The men’s final championship at Wimbledon, will be played on Centre Court on Sunday. The match is between Novak Djokovic, 24, from Serbia and Rafael Nadal, 25, from Spain. For Djokovic, this will be his first time to play in a Wimbledon final, although he has won the Australian Open two times in his career.

Rafael Nadal is ranked number one in the world for tennis and has won championships in Centre Court at Wimbledon before. Nadal wants to break the record held by Roger Federer. He will be a very strong competitor for Djokovic. On Sunday a very strong game in tennis will begin with the world’s best two putting their strong talents against each other, but only one will win.
