2011 MLB All-Star Game and Home Run Derby

The 2011 MLB All-Star game is almost here. This weekend the festivities began from Chase Field in Arizona. On Monday July 11th the Home Run Derby is taking place and this year the long ball contest will feature 4 players from the American League and 4 from the National League. Captains were appointed, David Ortiz and Prince Fielder. who chose the players that would participate in the derby.

The American League players in the home run derby are David Ortiz, Robinson Cano, Jose Bautista and Adrian Gonzalez. For the National League the participants are Prince Fielder, Matt Kemp, Rickie Weeks, and Matt Holliday. Currently the odds makers have Toronto Blue Jays and home run leader Jose Bautista favored to win. The start time for the 2011 MLB home run derby is 8:00 pm ET from Chase Field in Arizona.

The 2011 MLB All-Star game will take place on Tuesday July 12th at 8:00 pm ET. This will be the 82nd running of the game. Last year the winner of the game was the National League and this year the oddsmakers have them favored at -125. Coaching for the National League is Giants coach Bruce Bochy, and for the American League it is Rangers coach Ron Washington. The next few days are sure to be great entertainment for all baseball fans.
