2011 MLB Home Run Derby Winner

The Home Run Derby trophy for 2011 went to Robinson Cano of the New York Yankees on Monday night in Arizona. Robbie Cano hit a 472 foot drive and

hit a Miller Lite sign, he said he will remember that hit for a couple of weeks. He wondered how far that hit would have been if it was in New York? Last night was a family affair for Cano as his father, Jose Cano, former Houston Astros pitcher, pitched to his son.

Boston Red Sox, first baseman, Adrian Gonzalez tied the Derby record for the finals. He put some pressure on Cano, leading off the last round with 11 homers. But the left-handed swinger, Robinson Cano feeling right at home, came back to win the 2011 Home Run Derby Championship with his 12 homers in the finals at Chase Field.

Robinson Cano gave the credit to his Dad for winning the trophy. When he learned he was going to be participating in the 2011 Home Run Derby, he called his Dad, the only person who has thrown more practice balls to him in his lifetime. State Farm and Major League Baseball donated a total of $603,000 to the Boys and Girls Clubs, 95 homers were hit.
