The British Open Leaderboard: Royal St.Georges

The 2011 British Open is set to begin tomorrow from the Royal St. Georges Golf Club in England. 156 golfers will start the tournament, that tees off in the morning at 6:30 local time. Last years winner was Louis Oosthuizen of South Africa, a relative unknown on the PGA tour, he will tee off at 14:21 local time.

This year we will not be seeing Tiger Wood’s name on the British Open leaderboard as he is not participating in the tournament due to injury. Some top names that will be in the 2011 British Open include K.J. Choi, Y.E. Yang and Rory McIlroy. The Open is unlike most other tournaments due to the hilly terrain and tough holes. Hitting under par will be a tough task for most golfers at the Royal St. Georges.

The last time the British Open was held at the Royal St. Georges Golf Club was in 2003 when American Ben Curtis won the tournament. This years winner will be the recipient of £900,000 which is equal to approximately $1.4  million US. Whichever golfer ends up at the top of the 2011 British Open leaderboard they are sure to walk away with a nice chunk of change. Tune in tomorrow when the first round of action at the British Open kicks off from the Royals St.Georges and stay tuned in all weekend long to see who walks away a winner.

Tom Watson never ceases to amaze. To bad he didn’t get that hope a few years ago on the 72nd hole. Even so another great shot by Huck Finn.
