British Open Leaderboard: Darren Clarke, Lucas Glover Tied For First

With day two in the books let’s take a look at who is a top the British Open leaderboard. In a tie for first place we have Darren Clarke and Lucas Glover at -4. One shot behind the leaders at -3 are Thomas Bjorn, Miguel A. Jimenez, Chad Campbell, and Martin Kaymer. The field will now be cut down to the golfers with the top 70 scores including ties, and they will tee off for the third round on Saturday morning.

Rory McIlroy has moved up in the standings today by shooting a 69 on the day. He is now tied for 19th on the British Open leaderboard with an even score. Look for him to come out strong on Saturday and move up the standings. Last years winner, Stewart Cink, made the cut with a score of +1. Past winners Ben Curtis and Padraig Harrington did not make the cut and will not have the chance to win another title.

Big news from the British Open at the Royal St. Georges Golf Club was the hole in one by American Tom Watson on the par 3, 178 yard sixth hole. Watson also made the cut, ending up in a tie for 45th and shooting +2 over the first two days of competition. England’s own Lee Westwood  did not fair so well in the Open, not making the cut and ending up with a total score of 144 over the two days.

There are sure to be more changes on the British Open leaderboard over the next two days as golfers are becoming more comfortable with the course. Tune in this weekend to see the final two rounds of the 140th installment of the Open.
