Phil Mickleson has started his day in round 3 of the British Open 2011, in Kent, England. After the 3rd hole he is +1 with one bogey. Phil has been here before and has many major championships under his belt. He has not won the British Open, it is time to bring this trophy home to the U.S., with perseverance and focus, he may move up the British Open leaderboard.
A crowd favorite, young Rory McIlroy, the U.S. Open Champion from Northern Ireland has just finished his first 9 holes on day 3. Not what Rory wanted, he was looking to get more birdies in that first nine and only came up with one. The pressure of his record breaking win at the U.S. Open with an eight-shot victory may be playing havoc with his mind today when looking at the British Open leaderboard.
Day 3, with Lucas Glover from the U.S. and Darren Clarke from Northern Ireland starting their day with a -4 and tied for first after Day 2. You should see some great golf today, as the four golfers at -3, try to make their next birdie and catch and maybe surpass the two leaders. Often, whoever is the British Open leader at the end of Day 3, will either falter under pressure on Sunday, or increase their lead and win the British Open 2011.
