2011 RBC Canadian Open Preview

The RBC Canadian Open takes place this week at the Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club just outside of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. With over $5 million in prize money to be won and the winner taking home $918,000, the Canadian Open in 2011 is the place to be for the world’s best golfers this week.

There have been many renowned golfers win this event over the past years, including Tiger Woods, Scott Verplank, Vijay Singh, Jim Furyk, Mark Calcavecchia and the 2010 winner, Carl Pettersson from Sweden, to name a few. As a PGA Tour event, the winner also receives 500 points towards their FedEx Cup standing.

Did you know that the all-star of golf, Arnold Palmer won his first PGA Tour victory in 1955 at the Canadian Open at the Weston Golf and Country Club in Ontario? The world’s number one golfer from England, Luke Donald is here this week at the 2011 RBC Canadian Open. The 2010 British Open Champion, Louis Oosthuizen will be competing along with the 2011 Master’s Champion, Charl Schwartzel,both of these players are from South Africa.
