On Wednesday, Kim Kardashian sued Old Navy and it’s parent company Gap in a federal court in Los Angeles. Kim Kardashian alleges that the company was using someone that looked like her, a lookalike, in their advertising campaigns. Saying these ads violated her publicity rights.
On Old Navy’s YouTube channel, there is a video promotion featuring a dark-haired woman that shows a resemblance to Kim Kardashian. There have been over 2 million views of the ad. With her own clothing store and shoe line, Kim feels that consumers may become confused by the ads and think they are buying her products.
A commercial titled “Super-C-U-T-E”, is still running on the site and has been doing so since February. Kim Kardashian has over 8 million Twitter followers and over 5 million Facebook fans and she also holds the record for celebrity searches on the internet. The San Francisco based Gap, has no comment at this time about the news about Kim Kardashian sues old Navy.
