Greenbrier Classic Leaderboard: Day 3 at the 2011 Greenbrier

Brendon de Jonge managed to score a 3-under par 67 and shared the lead on the 2011 Greenbrier Classic leaderboard with Webb Simpson before the start of Day 3 at the 2011 Greenbrier. Simpson has scored 7-under 133 through the first tow days. De Jonge complained about the course at Old White but revealed he is feeling comfortable here. “I love the changes. The changes obviously made the golf course a lot more difficult, but I think they’re great. It’s a comfortable place for me,” he told reporters.

Trevor Immelman who topped the Greenbrier Classic leaderboard after the first day of the competition will enter Day 3 at the 2011 Greenbrier, holding second at 134 strokes, followed by Michael Letzig, Scott Stallings, Gary Woodland, Brian Davis and Derek Lamely, who all stand at 135 strokes.

Defending champion Stuart Appleby will miss Day 3 at the 2011 Greenbrier after he missed the cut and is now off the Greenbrier Classic leaderboard for 2011. Other players also admitted the course is tough and recent renovations made it even tougher than before. “You look on paper and the course doesn’t seem that hard,” Simpson revealed. “There’s enough trickiness you have to think on every shot,” he added. Fan favorite Phill Mickelson is out of the Greenbrier Classic tournament and went home before Day 3 to prepare  for the WGC Bridgestone Invitational next weekend in Akron. The last time Mickelson missed the cut was at The Barclays a year ago.
