DJ Mehdi’s publicist confirmed the hip hop and electro musician died in an “accident” in France aged 34. No details on the cause of his death are available yet while fans and friends refused to believe the news after it appeared online on Twitter.
Born under the name of Mehdi Faveris-Essadi he developed his musical career, starting as an underground hip hop producer and later gaining popularity under the shelter of French label Ed Banger Records. He composed music and performed with popular names like MC Solarr, Daft Punk, Cassius, and Carol King, collaborating Chromeo on his single “I Am Somebody.”
Following the news of DJ Mehdi’s death Paris Social Club announced it will be closed tonight to honor the artist, which is unprecedented in the club’s history.
