This Week with Christiane Amanpour: Secretary of Defense Speaks Out

The WikiLeaks have been the hot topic of conversation lately among all the politicians and media folks. The Secretary of Defense indicated that he was “mortified” by the fact the website owners had no problems releasing information that is basically plain dangerous. The 92,000 documents were put out by WikiLeaks and the general consensus remains that hundreds of thousands of people are now in danger. When Robert Gates was interviewed by Christiane Amanpour, he basically stated that he was angry and disappointed.

The folks in Afghanistan seem to be at a bigger risk now with the leak of the plethora of documents. Gates also indicated that he was disgusted as the Taliban has started to target the names that were released via that report. The good men and women who work in intelligence now have to step up their efforts as the safety of everyone has been comprised. ABC allowed Christiane Amanpour to handle the interview but didn’t force her hand as she interviewed Gates.

No doubt the names listed in the report need to be on alert and the folks who were responsible for leaking the information basically have “blood on their hands”. The site, WikiLeaks, was founded by Julian Assange who has seen a huge surge in negativity with this move. The Justice Department will be the one to decide if allowing these documents to be published is a violation legally. According to Gates and Christiane Amanpour, the White House has slammed Assange and the site for posting these documents and have made plans to investigate further.
