2011 Emmy Winners Recap

For a fourth year in row, Mad Men managed to win an Emmy, after getting the Best Drama Series award at the 63rd Emmy Awards on Sunday. Modern Family got the Best Comedy Emmy for a second consecutive year, while The Daily Show with Jon Stewart managed to win for ninth year in a row. The Amazing Race won the Emmy for best competition reality show at the ceremony hosted Jane Lynch.

First-time Emmy Awards visitors also won some awards with Peter Dinklage getting an Emmy for Game of Thrones, Kyle Chandler for Friday Night Lights, Martin Scorsese for directing Boardwalk Empire, Barry Pepper for The Kennedys and veteran film and TV actress Margo Martindale winning an Emmy for the FX drama Justified after being unsuccessfully nominated for years.

The role Kate Winslett is playing in the Mildred Pierce rewarded her with an Emmy with rival Downton Abbey miniseries taking six Emmy Awards. Mad Men were nominated for nineteen Emmy awards but won only two, for example.
Julianna Margulies managed to win an Emmy for Best Dramatic Actress, starring in the The Good Wife star Julianna Margulies, while The Big Bang Theory actor Jim Parsons won in the Best Comedy Actor category. Kyle Chandler took the Best Dramatic Actor Emmy for the character he is playing in Friday Night Lights.

Julie Bowen took home her first Emmy for Modern Family, while her camera partner Ty Burrell also took his first Emmy award.
